Two Negative Episodes Against Stray Dogs in Greece

Limassol, Cyprus: A veterinarian was recently fined for illegal parking after stopping to help a dog suffering from severe heat exhaustion. The dog was found lying on the side of the road, semi-conscious and close to death. Instead of thanking the veterinarian for his actions, he was penalized for parking in a prohibited area.

Palios Panteleimonas: A docile stray dog has mysteriously disappeared from this mountain village. Despite efforts from concerned citizens and local volunteers, the dog’s whereabouts remain unknown.

In both cases, the organization OIPA has written to the municipalities requesting explanations.

Stray animals are an integral part of our communities and deserve protection and humane treatment. These incidents highlight the need for greater compassion and understanding towards these vulnerable creatures.

UPDATE (06 August 2024) – GOOD NEWS!

A day after OIPA contacted the municipality of Dion Olympus asking for explanation, and in less than 24 hours, Josina has finally returned to her usual place! Just a coincidence? Who knows?

By the way, we are relieved to receive the news that Josina is safe and well. We also extend our gratitude to the municipality and to all those who expressed concern for her, in particular Anna who had reported us the case.
