A very gentle pitbull was found abandoned in the forest outside Istanbul, wandering in the area where our volunteers feed and take care of other stray dogs.
After a nationwide ban came into force in 2022 against breeds considered dangerous, the rate of abandonment of this type of dogs has unfortunately increased.
The dog was very skinny, his tail was cut at the end and he was not even able to sit and lay down comfortably. He turned on himself at least five times, every time he tried.
Considering his critical condition, our volunteers decided to find for him a temporary home to guarantee the dog a safe place where to recover. Unfortunately, the person who was fostering him, after 15 days called saying that the dog had lost additional weight.
Volunteers rushed to the house to check dog’s condition, finding out that the animal got worse because of the improper care.
The dog was not eating, he had wounds all over his body, and was full of fleas and ticks. Taken to the vet clinic, he underwent medical examinations. Doctor tried to feed him to verify his appetite and applied a flea treatment.
Test’s results have shown a severe blood and ear infection.
Now, he is guest in a dog boarding and has started different treatments. The therapy will last for a long time and once recovered he will be spayed.
