On the “World Day For Animals In Laboratories” observed every year on April 24, the member league association Wing Of Research In Local Development (WORLD) in cooperation with OIPA India – Rajasthan organized an educational and awareness campaign for “Say No to Animal Experiments” at Post Graduate Institute of Veterinary Education & Research (PGIVER) in Jaipur.
Wing Of Research in Local Development (WORLD) is one of the leading Animal Welfare, Wildlife Conservation and Environment Preservation organization in India. The NGO actively works for animal welfare and animal rights and is officially accredited by the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI).
This day was an occasion to promote animal rights and animal welfare through an interactive and enriching programme for more than 300 students and researchers of veterinary science to work towards a research free from animal experiment.
One of the speaker was our International Representative for OIPA India – Rajasthan, Mr. Manish Saxena. He is a renowned animal activist, a National Prani Mitra Awardee Advocate, Member of State Animal Welfare Board, Government of Rajasthan; Nominee to the Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CPCSEA), Government of India; a State Animal Welfare Officer for the Animal Welfare Board of India and Director of the organization WORLD.
Mr. Saxena sensitized participants about alternative research methods and advised that all educational institutions should promote a science free from animal experiments (proposal supported by Dr. Y.K. Yadav – retired Professor and Dr. Anjali Awasthi – Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology University of Rajasthan); while Dr. Sanjita Sharma Dean – Professor at Post- Graduate Institute of Veterinary Education & Research (PGIVER) – motivated participants to adopt the “3 Rs Alternatives” (= Reduction, Refinement, and Replacement of animals used in research, testing, and education) and be compassionate towards Animals.
Only working together as changemakers we can stop animal testing and build a better world for all animals
