A small shelter in Lebanon, Woof N’ Wags, asked us for help. As we know, this country is the scene of war in particular the South Lebanon region (where the shelter is located) has been bombed daily.  Everything they have built is now at risk. Ghada, Joe and others team’s member need more founds to save their project.

Who is Woof N’Wags

Woof N’ Wags is a private animal shelter founded by Ghada Al-Khatib (in the picture on the left) in Jezzine in poverty-stricken South Lebanon, a region which faces stray animal overpopulation and a dog-hostile environment. Woof N’ Wags is a registered nonprofit that has rescued some 300 dogs as well as farm animals. They are currently aiming to continue buildout of a new shelter on leased land, and daily struggle to secure bare essentials such as food and medicines for their rescues.

Yet Woof N’ Wags receives no governmental or organizational funding. The shelter is located in a country with practically zero dog adoption rate. As economic depression and record inflation grip Lebanon, its animals are suffering. The desperate situation and economic meltdown are resulting in extreme and inexcusable pet abandonment, putting pressure on our already full and resource-strained dog shelter

What woof n' wags has accomplished

  • Since its founding, Woof N’ Wags has rescued 300 stray and abused dogs as well as a dozen farm animals from cruel living conditions.
  • They stood by their rescues during the war in South Lebanon, and they rescued animals from collapsed buildings when everyone had evacuated.
  • Woof N’ Wags raised awareness through its website and social media channels about animal suffering and the need to respect all sentient beings.
  • Due to lack of local donations and massive stray animal overpopulation and other shelters being full, Woof N’ Wags has had to take in more animals than it planned in response to local rescue alerts, and therefore needs funding for shelter food, spay/neuter, and medications for dogs under treatment.
