Mario is only 5-months-old but he already suffered from neglect and abandonment. Found all alone in a firm’s woodshed in pitiful conditions, OIPA Italy’s volunteer in Treviso immediately noticed that his jaw was completely dislocated. Despite starving, the little kitten was struggling to eat and besides this, he was bleeding heavily.
Veterinary checks confirmed that Mario’s jaw was broken and, according to vets, detachment was probably due to a trauma dating back to an earlier time.
OIPA volunteers, who have rescued and welcomed the kitten in a foster home, will soon have to bring Mario back at the clinic for further examinations, including a head CT scan, complete blood and thyroid tests.
Alone they cannot afford the huge costs of veterinary expenses, but unity makes strength.
Mario is a very sweet and loving kitten, he has already suffered enough in the first months of his life. Let’s help him to heal so he can soon find a family forever!
OCTOBER 2023 – MARIO’S HEALTH CONDITION UPDATE
This little warrior is getting better and he’s growing joyful and full of energy. He underwent a first surgery to start fixing his mouth, but veterinarians were waiting the emergence of his permanent teeth to understand the best way to proceed.
A few days ago, Mario was taken to the clinic for another check. The lower canines, two lower incisors and one upper canine, which had started causing a malocclusion, were removed.
He has been taking painkillers and eating wet food, while a new check has been scheduled in 15-20 days.
Volunteers of OIPA are still asking to support Mario contributing with a small donation to his medical expenses.
