OIPA Italy’s volunteers rescued in Gela, a small town of Sicily, a female kitten of just 6 months affected by a squamous cell carcinoma that has terribly disfigured her muzzle. Many people disgusted by her aspect left the cat suffering by literally passing over her because not worthy enough to deserve care and attention. Luce (aka Light) is the name chosen by volunteers for this sweet kitten because, despite the suffering and people’s indifference, her desire to live has continued to shine through her beautiful eyes.
She was ignored as if her presence was totally invisible, ignored as if her pain and fear meant nothing, until the point that the lesion spread out of control devastating a large part of the muzzle, the nose and disfiguring completely her face.
But still, despite the suffering and the pain, Luce has such an unbelievable and overwhelming desire to live, she has great appetite and an incredible vitality as all kittens in her age should have. Volunteers have decided to offer Luce a chance and give her the best care, hoping to make her feel better and try to tie her suffering.
Her treatment plan will last for long. It is going to be full of medical examinations, tests and maybe if there would be the possibility even a surgical intervention to stop the tumour. As long as the light in her eyes will continue to shine along with her desire to fight for life, our “Blue Angels” will be there by her sight to support her.
