A terrible act of animal cruelty perpetrated by three youths at Adimalathura beach in Kerala went viral few days ago. A video showed an innocent dog named Bruno brutally and mercilessly beaten to death after being hung up alive on a fishhook. The shocking imagines revealed how brutally the dog was beaten with sticks while one of the three was filming impassive.

OIPA International has submitted a letter to the High Court of Kerala asking to collect all the evidence, reports and information regarding the episode and apply a severe punishment for this act of terrible cruelty, no matter if there would be someone underage.

We also wrote to the Animal Welfare Board of India asking a rapid reform to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (PCA), 1960.

The amendments, including more severe punishments for those who perpetrate abuse and cruelty on animals, are necessary for preventing episodes of this kind and avoiding further suffering to innocent animals who did nothing wrong. There are no justifications for human beings able to commit such a crime, whether they are adults or underage, because those who are not able to respect and have compassion for any other living beings will not be able even to respect individuals of their same species.
