Over the past few months, our delegation in Egypt, led by Zeina, participated in four pilot projects aimed at supporting animal welfare. During the vaccination and sterilization activities, volunteers also fed homeless dogs and cats.
Our representative is in discussions with the Ministry of the Environment to expand its activities to include wildlife conservation efforts across Egypt.
First pilot in Cairo
In partnership with local animal welfare groups, the organization neutered, spayed, and vaccinated approximately 80 dogs near Helwan University. They also leveraged the first government-university collaboration to establish a small sterilization clinic, while training the government veterinary team on humane, sustainable methods for treating and caring for stray animals, rather than killing or harming them;
Second pilot in Menofya
Over a two-week period, a team of volunteers vaccinated approximately 180 dogs and cats against rabies throughout the governorate.
Third pilot in Sharkeya
As part of a small-scale pilot program, veterinarians vaccinated 65 stray dogs that were roaming around local schools and neighbourhoods, and also sterilized 30 of those dogs.
Fourth pilot in Maadi
They vaccinated and castrated 70 roaming dogs around schools and neighbourhood
