On World Animal Day that is celebrated every year the 4th of October , our member league Sava’s Safe Haven has launched the first animal welfare programme for children between 7 to 10 years old (180 kids) and kids from 11 to 14 years old (153 kids). The event headed by Sava’s Save Haven, in cooperation with Tudorvet and All Animal Delta, and sponsored for materials and prizes by OIPA International took place in two schools in the small village of Niculitel, in the rural area of Tulcea (Romania), and had as main objective the introduction of animal welfare concept within the community and the education of young generation to respect and protect animals.
The event was joined not only by children and volunteers, but also teachers, parents, local police and veterinarians who gave information on how to behave correctly with animals also through some practical examples, partecipated. During the day, kids had the opportunity to interact with some very special guests, and were invited to participate in a drawing contest with the theme “Stop the abandonment and abuse of animals”.
At the end of the day, all children received a diploma and a bag full of surprises: educational booklets about animals, pencils, informative materials, toys, sweets and some pet food for their own animals.
The event was a great success! All participants were satisfied and children went home enthusiastic.
If we want to make the world a better place for animals, it is fundamental to change people’s attitude. Only educating and informing children in schools, we can grow a generation more sensitive towards animals.
We particularly thanks our member league Sava’s Safe Have for the amazing work and we hope next year to repeat the event on a large scale because our children are the only ones who can truly change the future of our animals!
