A female Pointer, emaciated and reduced to a mere mile of skin and bones, was seized by OIPA Italy Animal Control Officers of Oristano, a city in the central-western part of the island of Sardinia, and her guardian promptly reported to authorities.

OIPA’s animal control officers stumbled upon a female pointer in dire conditions, barely clinging to life, while conducting an inspection. The poor dog, who was severely malnourished, appeared to be nothing more than a pile of skin and bones. Despite being around 10 years old and lacking a microchip, her emaciated state was so extreme that the skeletal structure was clearly visible.

The municipal vet, who was called to assist the guards, immediately noticed the dire condition of the dog. The poor creature was not only suffering from extreme malnutrition and dehydration but also had multiple abrasions all over its body. To make matters worse, these wounds were infested with fly larvae and parasites. It was a heartbreaking sight.

After meticulously tracking down the owner through a series of investigations, OIPA volunteers proceeded with the seizure and ensured the dog received necessary medical treatment at a veterinary clinic.

Nola, a victim of neglect and mistreatment, urgently needs a temporary foster home where she can be nurtured and cherished. It is crucial that she receives the love she was denied before being adopted permanently once the legal proceedings are over.
