Free Captain Paul Watson now! Captain Paul Watson, known for his anti-whaling activism, was arrested by Danish police on July 21, 2024, upon arriving in Nuuk, Greenland, aboard his vessel, the M/Y John Paul DeJoria. Danish authorities assert that the arrest stems from an international arrest warrant issued by Japan, which still continues its criminal whaling operations in their country, citing Watson’s involvement in anti-whaling protests in the Antarctic over a decade ago. Captain Watson faces the possibility of extradition to Japan, where he could spend the rest of his life in prison.

OIPA International has joined many other international NGOs co-signing the Captain Paul Watson Foundation Open Letter‘s for Paul Watson’s release. With this letter, we try to put pressure for Denmark to free the captain and avoid his extradition to Japan.
