Every day, hundreds of kittens and puppies born from unsterilized stray or “owned” animals risk their lives on the streets. Thanks to Happy Paw’s “Sterilization Programme” – our member league in Ukraine –  we are reducing the number of unwanted litters dumped and abandoned and the number of strays animals in the country, while protecting animals’ health.

In April, OIPA International helped spay and neuter 164 dogs and cats (pets and strays) in 7 settlements across Ukraine:

• 8 cats and 5 dogs were sterilized in Novoukraika, Kirovohrad region
•  6 cats and 3 dogs neutered in Novomyrhorod, Kirovohrad region
• 40 cats and 7 dogs were sterilized in Oleksandria, Kirovohrad Region 
• 27 cats and 3 dogs were sterilized in Znamyanka, Kirovohrad region
• 10 cats were sterilized in Glukhiv, Sumy region 
• 4 dogs were sterilized in the “Give a paw to a friend” shelter in Zaporizhzhia
• 26 cats and 25 dogs were sterlized in Volodarka, Kyiv region 

If we also consider the animals sterilized in March, we can count 454 tails.
