15 stray dogs awaiting sterilization in Ankara. OIPA’s member association in Turkey, Bir Pati De Sen Tut, contacted us about an urgent case. At one of their feeding stations for stray dogs in Ankara, fifteen dogs need to be soon spayed/neutered.

Several months ago, OIPA vaccinated new born puppies at this same location. Those puppies have since then grown up, while additional puppies have been recently abandoned in the area. Sterilization and castration of dogs in reproductive age is essential to prevent the emergence of new homeless animals.

Our member association strives to consistently collaborate with the municipal shelter in conducting dog sterilization activities. Unfortunately, they have encountered challenges as local authorities have not granted enough space for castration.

Despite Bir Pati’s ongoing efforts to push Ankara municipality, time remains a pressing concern.

It is imperative for OIPA to intervene in supporting Bir Pati and its strays, in order to avoid the birth of new litters. Regrettably Turkey, particularly in Ankara and Istanbul, faces exorbitant veterinary expenses due to soaring inflation rates.

The cost of one sterilization procedure may amount to 270 euros.

The fifteen dogs who are expected to be spayed/neutered are

  • 10 female puppies
  • 2 adult female dogs
  • 3 male dogs who reached mating period and cause fights in the feeding area.

If you can’t sponsor a dog sterilization, you can anyway help us with a small donation.
